I don’t know about you, but sometimes I feel like my mind is so full of crap I’m going to explode. The stress of everyday life, the negativity I see on social media, daily news, etc. all seem to keep my mind cluttered. Because of this, it is important to unclutter and release all the toxicity in our brains. To help you, I’ve put together 5 ways to do a mind detox.
“Eliminate what doesn’t help you evolve.”
Detox Your Mind With These 5 Strategies
1. Unplug
Every day, take 30 minutes to an hour unplugging from technology. A Nielsen Company audience report determined that the average adult spends 10 hours and 39 minutes a day consuming media. That includes time spent on tablets, computers, phones, TV, video games and more.
10 hours!!! That is a lot of time. Spend some time each day to get away from all of it. You can go for a walk, meditate, do some chores. Unplugging is a great way to mind detox.
2. Mind Detox by Meditating
Meditation is another great way to detox your mind. It takes practice and time to master but you’ll notice some benefit right away. The act of meditating quiets the “monkey mind.” A “monkey mind” consists of unfocused thinking that can cause anxiety and frustration. If you can only spend 5 minutes a day meditating, do it. Even that short amount of time will focus your thinking and bring you back into the present moment.
3. Step Away
When things get a bit overwhelming in your thinking or in your environment, walk away for a bit is a great way to do a mind detox. Step away and change your environment. When I get overwhelmed thinking about a new idea or from trying to get important tasks done, I walk away and leave it behind. It helps me calm my mind, and when I return to those tasks, I’m more productive and focused.
4. Use Your Senses to Detox Your Mind
Using your senses to examine the world around you at that very moment is an excellent way to detox your mind. It helps you to live in the moment and clear your mind. I recommend you try to do this as much as you can throughout the day but it’s especially useful when you feel your mind is going crazy. What colors do you see around you? Are there any smells? What can you feel? Use all of your senses to mind detox.
5. Fill Your Mind With Inspiration and Positivity
Make a habit of reading positive stories and blog posts every day. Visit this site and other similar sites often to learn and fill your mind with positivity. Filling your mind with positivity will help keep out all the toxic junk that you are bombarded with. Here is a tip, go to Feedly.com and collect a list of blog feeds that inspires you.
