Beat The Monday Morning Blues
1 – Ask Yourself, “Why Am I So Unhappy?”
If you find that you are always suffering from Monday morning blues, ask yourself why? Why is it that you dislike going to work so much? It’s amazing how we are so wired to think that work is something that should be disliked or hated. Some have this belief that we should suffer and be unhappy in order to earn a paycheck. This is not true! You DESERVE to be happy and feel fulfilled in your career. So change that limiting belief right now! If you are always down and out at work, and full of anxiety, and you just hate it there, it may be time to take an honest look at what you are doing. Being unhappy takes a toll not only on your mental health but your physical health as well. It may be time to consider a change.
2 – Make a Work Gratitude List Every Sunday Night and After Vacation
We spend so much time thinking about the negatives at work that we fail to recognize the good. I’m sure you can find some golden nuggets at work if you think hard enough. Take time every Sunday to write a list of things that you are looking forward to at work that week. Even if it’s not necessarily work-related. Maybe it’s having lunch with a coworker. Maybe it’s finishing a big project. Maybe it’s getting paid on that coming Friday. Whatever the case may be, make a list of at least 3 items every Sunday to beat the Monday morning blues.
3 – Get It Done Friday To Beat The Monday Morning Blues
Minimize the amount of work you have to come back to. We are all guilty of being a bit lazy on Friday afternoons or the day before our time off begins. Instead of doing this, bust your butt to get as much done as you can. That way, you can reduce your workload when you return. Imagine how much less anxiety you’ll have when you don’t feel completely overwhelmed.
4 – Plan Something Fun The Day Of Your Return
Plan a nice dinner or meet up with friends after work on your first day back. Your goal shouldn’t just be about surviving the day. Decide to do something that will make you happy.
5 – Beat The Monday Morning Blues With Lots Of Short Breaks
Easing back into work mode will make your day a little less stressful and chaotic. Get up from your desk and take breaks often. Even a short walk will do the trick. You can use this time to do a mental and physical recharge and focus on positive thoughts. Don’t feel guilty either.
You can beat the Monday morning blues my friend. Use these tips to help you survive your workday.
