Learning to make effective, tough decisions is a skill that you must learn to master if you wish to be successful. One of the most efficient ways to do this is through Zero Based Thinking; a decision-making methodology made popular by business coach and speaker, Brian Tracy.
What is Zero Based Thinking?
Zero Based Thinking is a decision process by which you imagine yourself back at a previous decision point, and can now make a new choice based on your current knowledge. To help make this clear, ask yourself this question:
Is there something or someone in my life right now, that had I known what I know now, I would have never gotten involved with it, him or her, in the first place?
For example, would you have made that financial decision if you know what know now? Would you have gotten in that relationship, if you know what you know now? Would you be in your job or career field knowing what you know now?
If your answer is ever no, your next step would be to determine how, and how fast you can eliminate him, her or it, from your life.
When To Use Zero Based Thinking
If something doesn’t feel quite right in your life and is a source of stress and frustration, apply this method. Most of the time the best way forward is to eliminate the problem altogether. It may be difficult to do so, but if you want to achieve the highest levels of success and happiness, it is a must that you do so.
It doesn’t matter how long you have lived with a particular decision, there is always time to change. Make a committment to evaluate and then act.
Making decisions with Zero Based Thinking allows you to eliminate stress, be more productive, and reach success faster. Analyze every aspect of your life using this method and then act.
